Technology Services

The Technology Services Section is part of the Program Support Division, assigned to the Personnel/Program Support Command of the Fort Worth Police Department. The mission of the Technology Services Section is to support the Police Department by providing technology expertise and support required to fulfill the department’s varied missions by assuring the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and accuracy of police information systems and data for research and analysis, maximize operational efficiency through use of technology, as well as timely reporting of crime statistics to the City and State.  Our primary goal is to solve specific business and operational challenges by working with our first-responders, supervisory personnel, and command and executive staff and delivery technical solutions that deliver beneficial and measurable results.

Our technology decisions are influenced by best-practices, as well as local, state, and federal policy regarding data security, practices, and procedures.  We work closely with the City of Fort Worth's Information Technology Solutions Department to insure technology standards and alignment with the City's overall technology vision and strategy goals. 

A high-level view of the goals and objectives of the Technology Services Section are to:

  • Develop state-of-the-art web applications and SQL Server database development for department use, utilizing the latest in web and mobile technology.
  • Implement and develop police-enterprise system solutions, such as Master Data Services, that incorporate the development, execution and supervision of plans, policies, programs and practices that control, protect, deliver and enhance the value of data and information assets of the department, providing Master Data Management and an Enterprise Data Warehouse for traditional and predictive analytics.
  • Create and maintain centralized database platforms enabling consistent generation and reporting of crime statistics and crime analysis of current and historical incident report data.
  • Provide first-line support for Police employees regarding Police information systems and applicable assets.
  • Ensure compliance of police information systems with various local, state and federal regulations such as CJIS, Homeland Security, and HIPAA.

Technology Services is comprised of a Data Management group, Police Application Development & Support, Operations Support, and Research & Projects.
